1. Considered one of the most biodiverse ecosystems on the planet, these forests are teaming with wildlife such as a variety of bird species, Spectacled Bear, Jaguar, Sloth, Howler Monkey, puma and many other creatures.

2. The Galapagos Islands are not only part of Ecuador, but it is the most popular travel destination in Ecuador. With white sand beaches, turquois waters and volcanic rock, this is one place you need to check off your bucket list.

Galápagos Marine Iguana

3. The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador is home to the Galápagos marine iguana, which is a species of iguana found only on the Galápagos Islands (Ecuador). Unique among modern lizards, it is a marine reptile that has the ability to forage in the sea for algae, which makes up almost all of its diet.

Galápagos Tortoise

4. The Galapagos Islands in Ecuador is home to the Galápagos Tortoise. These tortoises are the largest in the world and the oldest Galápagos Tortoise in recorded history was 175 years old. Can you imagine what these tortoises must have seen in their lifetimes?

Boobies

5. Boobies... now now get your minds out of the gutter. I'm talking about the birds! There are actually three different types of bobbies in the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. The Blue-footed Booby, the Red-footed Booby and the Nazca Booby.

6. Underwater adventures are a must for any Galapagos Islands trip. The water is very clear and is great for snorkeling. The water is full of colorful fish and friendly wildlife curious to meet you.

Darwin Finches

7. Experience one of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time first hand. On the Galapagos Islands you can see the Darwin Finches, which are are a group of about 18 species of passerine birds. They are well known for their remarkable diversity in beak form and function. These birds are an iconic model for studies of speciation and adaptive evolution.

8. Yes you heard that right, Ecuador has penguins! The Galápagos penguin is a penguin endemic to the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador. It is the only penguin found north of the equator.

Chocolate

9. Did you know that Ecuador produces some of the best chocolate in the world? Some archeologists believe that Ecuador may have been the original home of the cocoa bean and have found evidence that it was harvested and consumed more than 5,000 years ago. Because of Ecuador’s diverse terrain and equatorial location, it’s the ideal location to grow cacao.
