Grand Teton / Yellowstone Trip Report

Spring Grand Teton National Park Photo Tour

Another successful spring in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Park. I led three tours this year. Starting with Grand Teton Photo Tour. We had incredible time photographing wildlife, including five different sessions with Grizzly 399 and her one year old cub nicknamed Spirit.

The group enjoyed photographing both landscapes and wildlife, with new life popping up all around us. We photographed moose, bison, elk, fox, pronghorn, black and grizzly bears. We also photographed several types of birds.

Spring Grand Teton Photo Tour

On one of the mornings a rare late spring snow storm appeared and blanketed the entire landscape in a winter wonderland. This treat allowed us to get some beautiful images of the wildlife and landscapes in the snow. By the end of the day the snow had melted and it was back to spring.

All in all everyone was very happy with everything that we photographed. We were able to create some incredible wildlife and landscape images.

Spring Yellowstone National Park Photo Tour

As soon as the Spring Grand Teton Photo Tour wrapped up we began our Spring Yellowstone National Park Photo Tour.

Spring Yellowstone National Park Photo Tour

Yellowstone National Park provides an entirely different landscape than its neighbor to the south. We traded mountain views for geysers and waterfalls. With more than 500 geysers and hot springs in Yellowstone, it makes for some pretty dramatic landscapes. We were also blessed with incredible wildlife opportunities, including coyote pups, baby elk, bison and pronghorn, as well as a grizzly sow with three cubs, and harlequin ducks.

Spring Naturetrek Yellowstone & Grand Teton Tour

My final tour for the spring was a co-led tour of both Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Our clients came from the U.K. and were delighted to spend some time exploring both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone.

Naturetrek

With two weeks together we were able to photograph everything from wolves, grizzly bears, red fox, black bears, marmots, pika, bison, ground squirrels, owls, osprey, mountain bluebirds, sandhill cranes and so much more.

Much of our time was also dedicated to photographing the geysers and hot springs as well as waterfalls. After a small dusting of snow came and went Beartooth Mountain Pass opened up and we were able to enjoy some incredible high elevation views. Everyone had a wonderful time and came away with great photos and unforgettable memories.
